St. Anibal and the Hours of the Passion (English translation)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shortly after having met the servant of God Lu\u00edsa Piccarreta, then Father An\u00edbal Maria di Francia (1851-1927), founder of the Rogationist Fathers and Daughters of the Divine Zeal, became her extraordinary confessor and ecclesiastical reviewer of her writings, \u00a0publishing the first four editions of the book \u201cThe 24 Hours of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ\u201d. One of the events that is most remembered about St. Anibal’s efforts to spread this work, which is piously believed to have been dictated by Jesus Himself, is that occasion when he took the book of the Hours of Passion to the Holy Father Saint Pius X and, while reading a few pages aloud, the Pope interrupted him saying: \u201cFather, not like that; this book must be read on its knees, it is Jesus who speaks \u201d.<\/p>\n

The first publication was made in 1915 and St. An\u00edbal planned to prepare the editions in French, Portuguese, Spanish, English and Polish.<\/p>\n

In the following paragraph, extracted from one of his letters to Lu\u00edsa Piccarreta, we can see the saint’s involvement in the mission that God himself had entrusted to him: “Yesterday when writing to my typographers from Oria, who told me that in order to be able to work faster they needed of buying new typefaces at the factory, I told them to buy them. Oh, if I found myself with strengths as in my youth, I would fly to Oria, to do this divine work myself! \u201d<\/p>\n

When he was in poor health, St. An\u00edbal wrote to Lu\u00edsa: “… A lay brother, very patient, has stayed every night, watching over my bed and praying the prayers of the Divine Will”.<\/p>\n

It is clear that St. An\u00edbal not only devoted himself to spreading the Hours of the Passion but also meditated on them.<\/p>\n

He knew the good that the reflections, the practice and the reparations contained in the meditation of these Hours would do to all humanity, not only for that time.<\/p>\n

A century later, the Hours of Passion are meditated in different parts of the world, in several languages \u200b\u200band, of course, in Brazil, in Portuguese, as was the wish of Anibal, considered the first apostle of the Divine Will.<\/p>\n

Pouco depois ter conhecido a serva de Deus Lu\u00edsa Piccarreta, o ent\u00e3o padre An\u00edbal Maria di Francia (1851-1927), fundador dos Padres Rogacionistas e das Filhas do Divino Zelo, tornou-se seu confessor extraordin\u00e1rio e revisor eclesi\u00e1stico de seus escritos, chegando a publicar as quatro primeiras edi\u00e7\u00f5es do livro \u201cAs 24 Horas da Paix\u00e3o de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo\u201d. Um dos acontecimentos que mais se recorda a respeito do empenho de Santo An\u00edbal em difundir esta obra, a qual acredita-se piedosamente ter sido ditada pelo pr\u00f3prio Jesus, \u00e9 o daquela ocasi\u00e3o em que ele levou o livro das Horas da Paix\u00e3o ao Santo Padre S\u00e3o Pio X e, enquanto lia em voz alta algumas p\u00e1ginas, o Papa o interrompeu dizendo: \u201cPadre, assim n\u00e3o; este livro deve ler-se de joelhos, \u00e9 Jesus Quem fala\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A primeira publica\u00e7\u00e3o foi feita em 1915 e santo An\u00edbal planejava preparar ainda as edi\u00e7\u00f5es em franc\u00eas, portugu\u00eas, espanhol, ingl\u00eas e polaco.<\/p>\n

No par\u00e1grafo seguinte, extra\u00edda de uma de suas cartas a Lu\u00edsa Piccarreta, podemos ver o envolvimento do santo na miss\u00e3o que Deus mesmo lhe havia confiado: “Ontem ao escrever aos meus tip\u00f3grafos de Oria, que me diziam que para poderem andar mais depressa tinham necessidade de comprar na f\u00e1brica novos caracteres tipogr\u00e1ficos, respondi-lhes que os comprassem. Oh, se eu me encontrasse com for\u00e7as como na minha juventude, voaria at\u00e9 Oria, para ser eu pr\u00f3prio a fazer este trabalho divino!<\/em> \u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Quando j\u00e1 estava com a sa\u00fade debilitada, Santo An\u00edbal escreveu a Lu\u00edsa: \u201c…<\/em>Um irm\u00e3o leigo, muito paciente, tem ficado todas as noites, velando junto da minha cama e reza-me as ora\u00e7\u00f5es da Divina Vontade\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

V\u00ea-se claramente que Santo An\u00edbal n\u00e3o somente dedicou-se em difundir as Horas da Paix\u00e3o como tamb\u00e9m as meditou. <\/em><\/p>\n

Ele sabia o bem que faria a toda humanidade as reflex\u00f5es, a pr\u00e1tica e as repara\u00e7\u00f5es contidas na medita\u00e7\u00e3o destas Horas, n\u00e3o s\u00f3 para aquela \u00e9poca. <\/em><\/p>\n

Um s\u00e9culo depois, as Horas da Paix\u00e3o s\u00e3o meditadas em diversas partes do mundo, em v\u00e1rios idiomas e, claro, no Brasil, em portugu\u00eas, como era o desejo de An\u00edbal, considerado o primeiro ap\u00f3stolo da Divina Vontade.<\/p>\n
