“Being a lay Dominican seems to Luisa to be an adequate form of consecration that is recognized by the Church. Thus she became a Dominican tertiary with the name of Sister Magdalena and, up until her final days, she will recite the Divine every day. She is very devoted to St. Dominic and St. Catherine and  she prepares for their feasts with a novena in their honor “. (Maria Rosaria Del Genio, The Sun of My Will Libreria Editrice Vaticana, 2014, p.48).

These words, contained in the biography of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta describe Luisa’s membership in the Dominican Third Order. From the testimonies and the documents that have been collected it appears that she was a part of it since her earliest youth, when the Third Order was restored in the city of Corato.

Also Mons. Luigi D’Oria was reporting it. In the biographical profile that he wrote in 1951 he said: “Luisa, as she herself repeatedly reminded her followers and as they attested, became a lay Dominican (…) in 1882, when she was 17 years old. (…)

Five years had passed since Jesus addressed her His heartfelt invitation: “Soul, help me!” Luisa felt the fire of the divine love that burned in her heart and she was all intent on finding “how better” to follow her heavenly Spouse, to imitate His examples, to suffer with Him and, thus, to cooperate with Him in the salvation of souls.

Luisa did not delay in understanding that the Third Dominican Order, like any other third order, bringing to life the religious spirit, led the souls of good will on the purely evangelical path and thus gave the opportunity to live with confidence following Jesus. (…) Moreover, our new daughter of St. Dominic kept faith in the promises and commitments she had made. Luisa, until her last days, recited daily the Office of the Dominican tertiaries , as the members of her family who lived with her until her death, confirmed “.

Luisa herself in her writings did not fail to refer to St. Dominic and St. Catherine from Siena. Witness the rich and profound references contained in the notebook “Aneliti di Santità”, in which some of Luisa’s disciples gathered her thoughts and prayers.

A link, therefore, with the Dominican spirituality, which is to be discovered and valued!

4/26 The Prevenient Act and the Actual Act

Book of Heaven:  May 27, 1922
The Prevenient Act and the Actual Act.

I was thinking to myself:  “If one act done in His Will is So Great, how many of them, alas! do I not let escape?”  And my Sweet Jesus, moving in my interior, told me:  “My daughter, there is the Prevenient Act and the Actual Act.  The Prevenient Act is when the soul, from the first rising of the day, fixes her will in Mine, and decides and confirms that she wants to Live and Operate only in My Volition.  She anticipates all of her acts and makes them all flow in My Will.  With the Prevenient Will, My Sun Rises, My Life remains Duplicated in all her acts, as though in One Single Act; and this makes up for the actual act.

“However, the Prevenient Act can be shaded, obscured, by the human ways, by one’s own will, by self-esteem, by negligence and other things, that are like clouds before the sun, that render its Light less vivid on the face of the earth.  On the other hand, the Actual Act is not subject to clouds; on the contrary, it has the virtue of dispelling the clouds, if there are any, and it makes many other Suns Rise, in which My Life is duplicated, with such Vividness of Light and Heat as to form as many New Suns, one More Beautiful than the other.  However, both of them are Necessary:  the Prevenient Act gives the hand, disposes and forms the Plane for the Actual Act; the Actual Act preserves and expands the Plane of the Prevenient.”

4/25 PLEASE PRAY CHAPLET OF ST. MICHAEL TODAY!

St. Michael

This is from. Fr. Richard Heilman:
(This was First Posted by him in 2023, but still relevant for today)

April 25th is a very significant date in history. There have been two times in history that St. Michael the Archangel appeared on April 25th, after prayers had been said to stop plagues. The first time was on April 25th, in the year 590, in Rome. Pope St. Gregory the Great, after leading people in prayer saw St. Michael the Archangel along with other Angels descend above the crowd, a heavenly perfume filled the air and the plague ended on that date. The second time St. Michael intervened during a plague was on April 25th, 1631 in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
I know many us of have been praying daily during this current pandemic. Please pray the Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel on Saturday April 25th. Please remember that when we pray with great faith, prayers and yes, miracles can happen.
The Chaplet of St. Michael has been attached. (See comments). Pray this Chaplet with an intent heart to ask Our Lord, through St. Michael with the intercession of the Blessed Mother, St. Joseph and all the angles and saints to end this plague in this current time.
Remember prayers united in true faith and firm belief from the faithful is powerful. Let us pray to St. Michael to hear us and lead us to victory. St. Michael, pray for us.

thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. .

O glorious prince St. Michael,
chief and commander of the heavenly hosts,
guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits,
servant in the house of the Divine King
and our admirable conductor,
you who shine with excellence
and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil,
who turn to you with confidence
and enable us by your gracious protection
to serve God more and more faithfully every day.

4/24 One should never look at the past, but at the present.

Book of Heaven
Volume 9; November 2, 1909

One should never look at the past, but at the present.

Continuing in my usual state, I was thinking about my things of the past, and Blessed Jesus, making Himself seen for just a little, told me:  “My daughter, do not look at the past, because the past is already in Me and can be of distraction for you, and it can make you mistake that little bit of path that is left for you to cover.  In fact, your turning to the past makes you slow your pace on the present journey, and so you lose time and do not advance on your way.  On the other hand, by looking only at the present, you shall have more Courage, you shall remain More Closely United with Me, you shall Advance More on your path, and there shall be no danger of your being mistaken.

From the Postulation for the Cause:

Luisa Piccarreta was born in Corato, province of Bari, Italy on April 23, 1865. She was baptized in the Mother Church and there received the first Sacraments in 1874. When she was 11 she became a “Daughter of Mary” and as a teenager a third-order Dominican. She received only a first grade education, and was called to serve our Lord as a victim soul at the tender age of 16.
On February 2, 1899, she was given the obedience by her spiritual director to begin a diary of her spiritual experiences, which she continued until 1938: 36 notebooks which detail her intimate rapport with heaven.
In 1926 she wrote her autobiography under obedience to her extraordinary spiritual director and Censor of her Writings, Saint Annibale Maria Di Francia. Her bed was her cell, her room her chapel, and her bed her Cross. The word which gave her life was God’s own creative Word: Fiat!
When she spoke, it was only briefly, but very wisely; the example and counsel she gave was always illuminating. Carrying invisibly the wounds of our Lord in her own crucified body made her a rare victim of intercession for mankind for more than 60 years, and any physical illness. Her nourishment for the most part of her life consisted of God’s Most Holy Will and the Eucharist.
Luisa, Precursor of the Sanctifying Third Fiat, chosen by God for the holy mission of proclaiming God’s Kingdom: “His Will now done on earth as it is in heaven”, was called into the fullness of that Kingdom on March 4, 1947.
On November 20, 1994 in the Mother Church of Corato, Mons. Carmelo Cassati, Archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie, having received the “non obstare” from the Holy See, blessed the opening of the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, secular third order Dominican.
With the Archbishop himself as president of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal, joined by enthusiastic faithful from southern Italy and from around the world, Luisa began her triumphal journey toward the Honors of the Altar.
Whoever has received particular graces attributed to the intercession of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta is requested to wrote to:
