Closing Cause of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta – October 29, 2005

Mons. Giovanni Battista Pichierri

ARCHBISHOP
of TRANI
– BARLETTA – BISCEGLIE

TITOLARE of NAZARETH

Prot. 29/06GBP

Dearest brothers,

In the meeting held at Corato last October (in 2005) on the occasion of the closing of the Cause of Beatification of Luisa Piccarreta, Providence had allowed many of you to participate, who for so many years worked in order to make known the great
spiritual wealth and the gift that the Lord offers us in the life and in the writings of Luisa.  At that gathering stood out the desire of meeting again in the next few months, in order to deepen the sense of fraternity that must be there between those who serve the
Kingdom of the Divine Volition according to the spirituality of the Servant of God, keeping in mind the Pauline text 1, Cor. 1,10:  “Therefore I urge you, brothers, in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to be completely unanimous in speaking, so that
there are no divisions among you, but be in complete union of thought and intent.”

The meetings are profitable for various reasons:

1stThe life of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta is extraordinary, especially in the way of how she lived the spirituality of the Divine Will, of which she is an exemplary model.  But not only her life gives proof of it, also her writings do.  It is necessary, therefore, to understand them and to present them in the context of her
life.  We must therefore know how to present her spirituality taking into consideration the deeply human Christian and Ecclesiastical roots that sustain and accompany all her
spiritual experience.

2ndSuch mystical experience, by itself very profound, Luisa sometimes had difficulty in manifesting in writing because of the limits of the human language and of her own personal, cultural, and historical limits.  We cannot therefore teach
or claim to apply to life, in a literal and radical way, all that one reads in her writings
.

We need a mature reflection in the context of the Catholic Faith and in the overall view of all her writings for however long she lived and wrote, so that our teaching be fruitful.  Otherwise we run the risk of diffusing not a spirituality that helps to fully grow, but a spiritualism separated from the concrete life and from the ecclesiastical life, that easily becomes fanaticism.

3rdAll of you who have taken part in the meeting of October, certainly feel as one called and feel a duty shared with everyone in the Church, the spirituality lived by Luisa.

Nevertheless, the experiences of these years says to us that the doctrine of the Divine Will has not always been presented in a respectful and correct way, according to the Doctrine and the Magisterium of the Church, placing in the mouth of Luisa statements that one does not find even implicitly in her writings.  This causes trauma in consciences and even confusion and refusal in the people and among the Presbyteries and Bishops.

Other times they distort certain essential themes or points of this spirituality,
presenting them outside of the context and the totality of the writings.  They make unauthorized deductions or conclusions; subjective thoughts are given as objective truth, or else they emphasis secondary aspects as if they were essential, in this way distorting the substance and diverting attention to less important things.  From this is the need of seeing possible deformations, inaccurate interpretations, imprudent or inappropriate teachings, in order to correct them and to present everything in full conformity with the Doctrine of the Church.

The meetings should help us to have a clear hierarchy of the truths that the Lord
has given Luisa, so as to pass them on in order and with the suitable educational methods.

4thThe gatherings will help us to remember those essential points of our Faith, that we can never forget in presenting the Divine Will.  If at times they become
implied, ignoring them or diminishing their importance, it is because the writings of Luisa and the spirituality of the Divine Will are placed above, creating a kind of confrontation between both of them.  Other times they are reinterpreted in the light of such doctrine, but not in a correct way.

5thIn each meeting we can examine some from among the most significant or essential aspects of the spirituality of the Divine Will, to make evident what possibly does not go well in the way it is presented and taught to the faithful, and arrive at practical conclusions for a more uniform and healthy diffusion of the writings of Luisa and of the spirituality that they contain.

Therefore, by personal and restricted invitation, in the month of October, a gathering of thorough study will take place(Detailed invitation will follow)

The subject to be taken into consideration is:  the Life of Luisa as life in the Divine Volition.  From the analysis of the writings drawn from:

–         The Hours of the Passion;

–          The Queen of the Kingdom of the Divine Will;

–          Letters of Luisa and St. Annibale

–          The First 19 Volumes of the Diary; It will have the following question to argue:  “What does to live in the Divine Volition mean?”

The meeting will conclude with the preparation of a summary of the subjects dealt with, and proposal of a presentation of themes for the faithful.

I thank each one in advance for your helpfulness,  I cordially bless you,

Trani, March 9, 2006

X Giovan Battista Pichierri

3/7 “Here is your Mother!”

J_Foot of Cross Mary John

He said to his Disciple, “Here is your Mother!”
He said to his Mother, “Woman, here is your son!”

From the Hours of the Passion, Our Lord Jesus Christ is suffering on the Cross:

O my Jesus, I intend to repair for the offenses given to the Most Holy Virgin, for the blasphemies and the ingratitudes of many who do not want to recognize the benefits You have granted to everyone by giving Her to us as Mother.

How can we thank You for such a great benefit? O Jesus, we turn to Your own source and we offer You Your Blood, Your Wounds, the Infinite Love of Your Heart! O Most Holy Virgin, how moved You are, in hearing the Voice of Good Jesus, leaving You to us as Mother!

We thank You, O Blessed Virgin, and in order to thank You as You deserve, we offer You the very thanksgivings of Your Jesus. O Sweet Mama, be our Mother, take care of us, and do not allow us to offend You even slightly. Keep us always clasped to Jesus; with Your hands bind us—all of us, to Him, that we may not escape Him, ever again. With Your own intentions, I intend to repair for all, for the offenses given to Your Jesus and to You, my Sweet Mama!…

3/2 This Saturday, March 4th, is the 70th Anniversary of the Little Daughter of the Divine Will Luisa’s Enterance into Eternity

The Meaning of the Number 70

Seventy has a sacred meaning in the Bible that is made up of the factors of two perfect numbers, seven (representing perfection) and ten (representing completeness and God’s law). As such, it symbolizes perfect spiritual order carried out with all power. It can also represent a period of judgment.

Seventy is also specially connected with Jerusalem. The city kept 70 years of Sabbaths while Judah was in Babylonian captivity (Jeremiah 25:11). Seventy sevens (490 years) were determined upon Jerusalem for it to complete its transgressions, to make an end for sins and for everlasting righteousness to enter into it (Daniel 9:24).

The Bible records Jesus Christ giving at least 70 parables during His ministry.

2/22 Today is Feast of the Chair of St. Peter, it is also the date in 1931 that St. Faustina was given reflections on Divine Mercy

On October 5, 1938 Sister Faustina (Helen Kowalska)
died in a convent of the
Congregation of Sisters of
Our Lady of Mercy in Cracow, Poland

In fulfillment of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta’s prayer (see following excerpts from the “Book of Heaven”), the following year on August 25, 1905, Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, an apostle of Divine Mercy, was born.

Book of Heaven
The Call of the Creature to the Order, the Place and the Purpose
for which He was Created by God

The Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta the Little Daughter of the Divine Will:

Volume 6 – April 16, 1904
Jesus and God the Father speak about Mercy.

Continuing in my usual state, I found myself outside of myself, and I saw a multitude of people, and in their midst one could hear noises of bombs and gun shots.  People were dropping dead or wounded, and those who were left would flee up to a palace nearby; but the enemies would go up there and kill them, more surely than those who remained outside.

So I said to myself:  How I (Luisa) wish I could see whether the Lord is there in the midst of these people, so as to say to Him:  “Have mercy – pity on these poor people!”  So I went round and round and I saw Him as a little Child; but little by
little He kept growing, until He reached the perfect age.  I drew near Him and I said:  “Amiable Lord, don’t You see the tragedy that is happening?  You don’t want to make use of mercy anymore?  Do You perhaps want to keep this attribute as useless, which has always glorified your Incarnate Divinity with so much honor, forming a special crown on Your august head, and bejeweling You with a second crown, so wanted and loved by You – which is souls?

Now, while I was saying this, He told me:  “Enough, enough, do not go any further; you want to speak of Mercy, and what about Justice – what are we going to do with It?
I have told you and I repeat to you:  ‘It is necessary that Justice follow Its course’.”

So I replied:  “There is no remedy – why then leave me on this earth when I can no longer placate You and suffer in the place of my neighbor?  Since it is so, it is better if You let me die.”

At that moment I saw another person behind the shoulders of blessed Jesus, and He told me, almost making a sign with His eyes:  “Present yourself to My Father and see what He tells you.”

I (Luisa) presented myself (to God the Father), all trembling, and as soon as He saw me, He told me:  “Why have you come to Me?”

And I (Luisa):  “Adorable Goodness, infinite Mercy, knowing that You are Mercy Itself, I have come to ask for your Mercy – Mercy on your very images, Mercy on the works created by You; Mercy on nothing else but your creatures themselves.”

And He (God the Father) said to me (Luisa):  So, it is Mercy that you want.  But if you want true Mercy, after Justice has poured Itself out It will produce abundant fruits of Mercy.”

Not knowing what else to say, I (Luisa) said:  “Father, infinitely Holy, when servants or people in need present themselves before their masters or rich people, if these are good, even if they do not give everything that is necessary for them, they always give something.  And to me, who have had the good of presenting myself before You, absolute Master, rich without limit, infinite Goodness, don’t You want to give anything of what this poor little one has asked of You?  Does a master perhaps not remain more honored and content when he gives, than when he denies what is necessary to his servants?”

After a moment of silence He (God the Father) added:  “For love of you, instead of doing ten, I will do five.”

Having said this, They disappeared, and in several places of the earth, especially of Europe, I saw wars, civil wars and revolutions multiply.

Volume 6 – June 20, 1904
Victim souls are the daughters of Mercy.

After I struggled very much, blessed Jesus came for just a little and told me:  “My daughter, human perfidy has reached such a point as to exhaust My Mercy on its part.
But My goodness is so great as to constitute daughters of Mercy, so that on the part of creatures also, this attribute may not be exhausted These are the victims who are in full ownership of the Divine Will, having destroyed their own.  In fact, in these souls, the container given by Me in creating them is in full vigor, and since they have
received the particle of My Mercy, being daughters, they administer it to others.  It is understood, however, that in order to be able to administer the particle of My Mercy to others, they themselves must be in Justice.”

And I:  “Lord, who can ever be in Justice?”

And He:  “One who does not commit grave sins and abstains from committing the slightest venial sins of his own will.”
